Our values

  • Independence
  • Integrity
  • Ethics
  • Accountability

Our approach

We thrive on information. Throughout our process the individual needs of our customers and the information they give us is imperative to establish the base we work from.

History

In July 2003, a co-founder of Independent Freight Rate Auditors (IFRA) stopped at traffic lights.

He reflected that in his life as a Senior Manager and Sales and Marketing Executive in the Computer Industry, he was always told to "listen" to the customer to determine their needs. In doing so, he heard their plight.

Common complaints among the customers regarded the issues they experienced whilst dealing with Interstate Transport companies and International Freight Forwarders. Most customers stated that they struggled to reduce costs whilst increasing their product volumes, noting that Interstate and International transport companies were constantly raising rates. Customers had also recognised that when they employed a third party, such as a broker or consultant, to aide in understanding the fluctuations, these companies would often apply margins on the rates offered.

Customer frustration at damaged or lost freight, common carrier clauses, freight arrivals and sometimes non-arrivals proved prevalent. The question asked was, where does it end and who is the voice of the customer? It was then at those traffic lights that the concept of IFRA evolved. Independent Freight Rate Auditors provide the answer, as the customer advocate for both International and Interstate Freight.

We help each customer understand the workings of the Transport Industry from a Logistics Manager and Carrier perspective.

On a lunch serviette, over a bottle of red at the Sandown Hotel in 2003, the name IFRA was established. Originally the acronym stood for Independent Freight Rate Assessors, however, given the scope of works we complete daily, it was later changed to Auditors. Today, IFRA is the only Freight Rate Auditor in Australia.

IFRA works to present and inform their customer about choice, establishing a base in aiding you to determine whether your company has the correct rate structure in place for your freight expenditure and product volume.

IFRA takes great care in ensuring your freight needs are met with the best companies at the lowest possible cost. Such is our guarantee, no savings, no fee.
